The same chemistry, adapted per room
Garages get the attention, but the same coating systems work across most interior concrete in a house. What changes is the specification: moisture handling, slip resistance, film build and finish are all adjusted to how the space is used.
Basements
Below-grade slabs are the most moisture-sensitive surface in a typical home, and moisture testing genuinely matters here. Where readings are high, a moisture-mitigating primer or vapour-barrier base coat is specified before the system goes down. Get this wrong and the coating bubbles or delaminates months later — long after the crew has gone.
Workshops and hobby spaces
Workshops want abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and easy sweeping. A full-broadcast flake system with a double topcoat handles dropped tools, solvent spills and rolling toolbox castors better than a thin solid-colour finish.
Laundry, utility and storage
These rooms benefit most from the non-porous surface. Detergent, bleach and the occasional appliance leak sit on top of a coated floor and wipe off instead of staining into the slab.
Light commercial
Small retail units, showrooms, veterinary and clinical spaces, breweries and warehouse bays all use the same product families with heavier build, higher chemical resistance, and coving at the wall junction where a sanitary detail is required. Commercial work is quoted differently from residential — scope, downtime windows and access all drive the number.

About this system
What about moisture coming up through the slab?
Moisture vapour transmission is a genuine risk in the Carolinas, particularly for slabs poured without a vapour barrier or in below-grade spaces. It is assessed with a moisture test before coating. Where levels are high, a moisture-mitigating primer or vapour-barrier base coat is used. Skipping this step is one of the more expensive mistakes in the trade, because the failure appears months later.
Does new concrete need to cure before coating?
Yes. New slabs are normally left to cure for around 28 days before a coating is applied, so that most of the free moisture has left the concrete. Coating too early traps moisture vapour under the film and is a common cause of bubbling and delamination.
How do I maintain a coated floor?
Sweep or dust-mop regularly and rinse or damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid citrus or pine-based cleaners and undiluted degreasers, which can dull the finish over time. Wipe up battery acid, brake fluid and fuel promptly. Place a mat under a vehicle that is frequently jacked up, and use plywood under jack stands or floor jacks to spread point loads.
